Electricians and their fleet: new survey and findings

A new survey, conducted by Vimcar - involving thousands of employers in the electrical service sector - has uncovered gaping holes in electrician's fleet security. A staggering 1 in every 3 electrician employers has had a van stolen in the past.

The solution? 63% of respondents said they would buy - or have already bought - a telematics fleet tracking system to track their vehicles and alert them of any suspicious activity.

Another security problem highlighted by this survey was the clear need to solve vehicle misuse in electricians' fleets. 75% of employers restrict how their company vehicles should be used (eg only for business miles). 62% of employers would like to be notified when one of their fleet vehicles is being used not used in accordance with these rules - suggesting that many employees in the electrical field do not always follow the rules. Again, a fleet tracking system would be able to send such notifications to employers.
